Can i collect from someones house insurace for an injury that will effect me fot the rest of my life?

i brought my wood chipper over their and got sucked in..my hand got amputated. he is not the owner of the house and i usually wouldnt do this but my career is over..no money coming in at all. i want to try for liability from the insurance..they are pissed but i have to do somthing.i was helping them clear brush. if i broke a bone no biggie but my whole hand...
